I knew it wouldn’t be easy giving up cigarettes. Especially as quite a few of my colleagues smoke, and we enjoy smoking together during the day. But I’m thinking of starting a family, so that gave me a lot of motivation to quit. Using the Nicotinell website along with the patches has made it so much easier. I used the quiz to see how unfiltered my life was, and the savings calculator to work out how much I’d save. And I’ve been using the mobile app every day. These tools have really helped me keep track of my progress, and getting that constant motivation makes all the difference.

It sounds crazy now, but I was easily smoking 20 or more on a night out. The thought of giving up was terrifying. And if I'm honest, I used that as an excuse not to even try. But when you’re standing outside in the pouring rain or huddled by the bins, you start wondering if it’s worth it! I knew a few people who’d used patches to quit, but apart from that I was clueless as to what help there was out there. From the Nicotinell site, I found that there were loads of options other than patches, like chewing gum and lozenges, which I could use.

This is my fourth time giving up smoking. The first three times, I went cold turkey, I just threw all the cigarettes in the bin, and stopped completely. But for me, that just didn’t work. It seemed like I had a huge mountain to climb. And I’d always end up smoking again and feeling guilty about it. Someone suggested this Nicotinell website. It gave me help about whether to gradually cut down to unfilter my life, or give up all at once. Just knowing there are options like that is wonderful, so I’ve started by cutting out half of my daily cigarettes, and we’ll see how I go!

I’d definitely call myself a social smoker. If I’m out with some friends and having a drink, it only seems right to be having a cigarette as well. But my girlfriend hates the smell of smoke on me, so I use Nicotinell Ice Mint gum whenever I go out in the evenings.
